Eremia Camels Treks & Museum

Category

Embraced by mallee and salmon gum woodland 3km east of Ravensthorpe, with a view of the Ravensthorpe Range and at the edge of the Fitzgerald Coast in Western Australia.

My collection is a celebration of the history of Camels, the Muslim Cameleers (known in Australia as the ‘Afghans’) and First Nations People, all Pioneers of the Inland. They dedicated their lives and enriched the cultural landscape, opening up lines of supply, transport and communication between isolated settlements.

The Museum displays a kaleidoscope of colour from countries where the “Camel” is vital to their nomadic lifestyle, their culture, religion and health. The Museum, like an “Aladdin’s Cave” transports you to treasures from India, Mongolia and Morocco, heralding the richness of their culture through fabrics, ancient doors, and windows. The display of original photos takes you on an educational journey to the hinterland of Australia when Afghan Cameleers and their teams of camels embedded their rich history into Australian society.

Passionate about connecting individuals and communities with Australian Camels.
